What different groups of people do you have in your genre?
In my genre i have young women singing and dressed quite pervogativly. The genre that we are following is pop and in this genre the majority of the music videos include young sexy women. However in the 'pop' genre the singers and dancers do not neccisarily have to be female. In my genre men can be found also however they must have the simular conventions o the women in the genre such as smooth looking and quite attractive.

What are the common stereotypes?
The common views of the sterotype of girl bands are girls that dress in very trendy clothes aswell as alot of make up. In the media today we see lots of drama about girl bands doing bad things. Such as in girls aloud in the media 'cheryl cole' had been in the media alot as they have been covering thier divorce. Girl bands such as girls aloud and the Saturdays are seen to be quite troublesome and are convetionally good dancers. All the girls and boys in the convention tend to be quite well groomed. They can be airbrished in teh photo shoots that they do therefore this could be a false perception of who they really are.

Are they traditional or modern representations?
Traditionally in the media, females were seen to be 'traditional housewives'. this meant that they conventionally had to stay at home and keep the house clean as well as cook the food. A typical image of the tradional women have a simularity of the modern as they are both technically well groomed. However over time the image of the women has evolved, this is due to teh moving of the times and more flesh and more pervogative clothing is able to be worn. The ultimate pop era was the 90's were band such as steps and the spice girls were made. this was a turing point for the media as a differant take on women in girl bands was taken.

What changes have there been in society which have impacted on the representations of your groups?
After the 90s were the spice girls were put together, society changed the way that women were seen. The girl band promoted such a thing as 'girl power' with this more break out women groups were formed and every year since the spice girls. Girls aloud wo were formed on a show called pop stars the rivals saw a new era of girls as they broke all sorts of records and alot of respect was found for girl bands in society. Orinigally in the past women were not to be promoted as sex symbols however as time has moved on it has become more socially acceptable for them to become more so after thease turning points.
